Alex Graham
Alex Graham was born in Glasgow in October 1953. He is the Chief Executive of Wall To Wall Television. As one of the UK's top ten independent production companies, Wall To Wall has a reputation for producing refreshing and challenging television and for its commitment to innovation across all genres spanning both drama and factual programming.
Over recent years Wall To Wall has expanded its international operation considerably and its programmes now sell across the world. Wall To Wall provides programming for broadcasters in both Europe and North America with a major slate of projects of international appeal.
Recent factual programmes include The 1900 House and The 1940s House for Chanel 4, Body Story and Neanderthal for Channel 4 and Discovery, The Emmy Award winning Baby It's You for Channel 4 and The Learning Channel and the acclaimed post-war social histories, Ready To Wear, All Mod Cons and Slice of Life for BBC2. Fully funded International programming includes four series of Paleoworld for TLC and The Science of Sex also for TLC.
Dramas include Sex Chips and Rock 'n' Roll, Our Boy, Bumping The Odds and the multi-award winning A Rather English Marriage and Glasgow Kiss all for the BBC
Alex began his career as a print journalist at the Bradford Telegraph and Argus and The Sunday Times. He joined London Weekend Television in 1979 where he worked with Janet Street Porter, Clive James and Russell Harty on Saturday Night People ; on ITV's award winning documentary series Credo ; and on the ground breaking series for young people Twentieth Century Box. He also helped create London Weekend's innovative arts strand South of Watford.
He joined the independent sector in 1984 and was programme editor of two of Channel 4's most distinctive and memorable factual series : Diverse Reports (1984-1987) and The Media Show (1987-1991).
He is currently Vice Chair of PACT Council and was Executive Chair of the Edinburgh International Television Festival between 1989 and 1993. He has contributed numerous essays and magazine articles about television and has taught on courses about programme development and running your own production company.
