Justin Albert
Justin Albert joined Animal Planet as vice president of production in November 2001. In this role, Albert oversees the production of all original and co-produced programs, which make up more than 80 percent of Animal Planet's 24-hour schedule.
Prior to joining Animal Planet, Albert served as vice president of production and development for Discovery Digital Networks. There he oversaw all production activities, including long-form, short-form and live programming for Discovery Digital Networks including Discovery Science Channel, Discovery Civilization Channel, Discovery Home & Leisure Channel, Discovery HD Theater, Discovery Wings Channel and Discovery en Espaņol.
Albert has held numerous top posts in his more than 17-year career in the industry. Most recently he was president of Peter Guber's L.A.-based Mandalay Media Arts, and managing director of Transatlantic Films.
Prior to joining Discovery Networks, Albert had independently directed more than 50 long-form programs for the networks including the Discovery Channel, TLC, the Travel Channel and Animal Planet. For his production achievements, Albert was honored with a Gold World Medal from the New York Festivals, a New York Critics Award and Gold and Silver Houston Film Festival Awards. He has also received a Prix de Balle -- one of Europe's premier awards.
Albert holds an LL.B. with Honors and a Diploma of Film Direction from the London Film School at Beaconsfield. He has also studied at the Westminster School in London, Buckingham University and the Buckingham School of Law. Albert currently resides in Washington, D.C.
