Carl Lindahl
New York, October XX - Emmy Award-winning cable television executive Carl Lindahl, executive producer of some of Turner Broadcasting System's most acclaimed and popular documentaries, has been named Vice President of Programming for The History Channel(r), it was announced today by Charlie Maday, Senior Vice President of Programming, The History Channel.
As Vice President of Programming, Mr. Lindahl will focus on developing new series, specials and documentary strands as well as advance and long-term programming strategies for The History Channel.
"Carl knows how to tell a good story," said Mr. Maday. "Whether it's a serious or lighthearted topic, his proven track record at Turner in identifying stories that entertain, challenge and provoke makes him the ideal choice to lead The History Channel in exciting new programming directions that will energize our viewers and draw new audiences to our network. We're excited to have him join our team."
Since 1995, Mr. Lindahl has been Vice President, Program Production at Turner Network Television (TNT) and Turner Classic Movies (TCM) where he was responsible for the development and production of non-fiction programming and promotion. Programs he executive produced at TNT include the Emmy-nominated historical documentary, Moment of Impact: Stories of the Pulitzer Prize Photographs; Was Justice Denied, an investigation of two highly-controversial New York murder cases and Medal of Honor, first person accounts of ordinary men who earned America's highest military award. Documentaries produced for TCM include: Lon Chaney: A Thousand Faces, narrated by Kenneth Brannagh; Clara Bow: Discovering the 'It' Girl, the story of film's first sex symbol; and Inside the Dream Factory, a behind-the-scenes look at the Hollywood studio system during the Golden Age of moviemaking.
Mr. Lindahl has earned six Emmy nominations and won a 1997 Emmy for the sports documentary, Football America. He has also been honored with two Gracie Allen Awards, three Telly Awards, two CableAce Awards and numerous other honors.
Prior to joining TNT, Mr. Lindahl was president of Commicreations, an independent production company that developed and produced non-fiction programs, TV promotion and advertising for networks including CBS, HBO, and The Discovery Channel. He has also worked for The Entertainment Channel and HBO.
Mr. Lindahl is a graduate of Ithaca College, with a Bachelor of Science in Television and Film.
