Christina Pochmursky
Christina Pochmursky was named Program Director of The Documentary Channel in May 2001 -- taking up a challenge to complete a new digital channel launch with just three months of lead time. Dedicated to showing the best of non-fiction films from around the world -- Canada's Documentary Channel hit the ground running with 800 great films ready to roll from day one. The programming schedule - "all documentaries all of the time"- includes Academy Award winners, gritty POV cinema verite style films and the best news documentaries from around the world.
In addition to programming the channel, Christina is also responsbile for the development and commissioning of documentaries, and she hosts three program strands on air. For "In Camera", a one-hour weekly interview show, Christina talks with independent film-makers about their work.
Before coming to The Documentary Channel, Christina worked as an senior producer, writer and director for CineNova Productions in Toronto. Her work has been shown on Discovery, The Learning Channel, Canal+ and History Television. She also worked as a producer/host/reporter for the CBC on a weekly current affairs program.
And, in another life (which lasted 8 years) Christina was the executive producer and host of a daily business program on Newsworld, Canada's all news network.
Christina spends her free time (?) rock-climbing and trekking around the world.
