Rick Rodríguez

Rick Rodriguez is Executive Vice President, International Content for Discovery Networks, International (DNI), a division of Discovery Communications, Inc. (DCI). Charged with oversight of content creation for the international division's network, Internet and interactive assets, Rodriguez works to strategically align the efforts of DNI's programming and production teams around the world and to develop new program formats that capitalize upon opportunities created by evolving technologies. Based in Silver Spring, Maryland, Rodriguez also provides an international perspective to the efforts of DCI's Content Board, a strategic cross-company council of senior executives charged with setting the company's content and branding strategies for all networks and businesses.

Previously, Rodriguez served as Senior Vice President of Programming and Production. Rodriguez and his senior team spearheaded the development of programming for DNI's family of ten brands, including the international tailoring of Discovery Channel's Watch with The World events and worldwide production efforts like Discovery Health's Living Pulse series. Rodriguez also significantly increased DNI's commitment to the international production community with new launches of DNI's First Time Filmmaker initiatives and the international rollout of DNI Producers Workshops, a project he pioneered during his time as head of programming for Discovery Networks Latin America/Iberia.

Rodriguez joined DCI in 1994 as one of the founding team members that established the company's presence in the Latin American market with the launch of flagship Discovery Channel. As Vice President of Programming for Discovery Networks, Latin America/Iberia Rodriguez played an important role in the planning, design and expansion of four regional networks: Discovery Channel, Discovery Kids, Animal Planet and People+Arts. Rodriguez also launched Discovery en Español, DCI's service for U.S. Hispanic audiences.

Rodríguez is a graduate of the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida, where he earned a Bachelor's in communications with a minor in marketing.
