Margery Baker-Riker

Margery Baker-Riker Margery Baker-Riker was named Vice President, CBS News Productions in 1999. Before that, she was Executive Director/Executive Producer (1995-99). CBS News Productions is the unit of CBS News that creates and distributes a diverse mix of original nonfiction and reality style programming for domestic and international markets, including network and cable television, home video , DVD, audio books and in-flight, as well as schools and libraries.

Before that, Baker-Riker was National Editor, CBS News (1992-95). She had been a producer in the special events unit (1986-92), where she was involved in CBS News' coverage of most major news events of the time, including political campaigns; the Persian Gulf war; the Los Angeles riots; the Iran-Contra hearings; Presidential summits in Iceland, Malta and Moscow; Japanese Emperor Hirohito's funeral; and the student uprising in China.

Baker-Riker was the senior broadcast producer of the CBS MORNING NEWS (1982-86). She was responsible for overseeing a staff of 150 producers; working with the broadcast's anchors each day; as well as coordinating all special programming, including coverage from Europe for the 40th anniversary of D-Day and the political primaries and conventions.

Baker-Riker was born in New York City. She was graduated from Barnard College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism with a Master's degree. She lives in New York with her husband, Stephen J. Riker, and has three stepchildren.
