Thom Beers is the President and Executive Producer of ORIGINAL PRODUCTIONS, a premiere reality-based production company that produces innovative and provocative programming content for cable and syndicated television.
Established in 1999, Beers has grown his company into one of television's leading suppliers of popular culture documentaries. Beers and his team have produced such shows and series as MONSTER GARAGE, BIKER WOMEN, TURF ROCKETS: A LAWN MOWER RACING CHALLENGE, IMPACT!, PLASTIC SURGERY: BEFORE & AFTER, GUT BUSTERS, GREATEST MOTORCYCLES, MOTORCYCLE MANIA I & II, CRASH FILES, HARLEY DAVIDSON: THE BIRTH OF THE V-ROD, MYSTERY OF THE ALASKAN MUMMIES, EXTREME HAWAII, VEGAS WEDDINGS, SHIPWRECKS & SALVAGE, WRESTLING SCHOOL, And CONTORTIONISTS.
Beers' award-winning company has built a solid relationship with the Discovery Channel, delivering unparalleled ratings success with its lineup of programs -- including the World Premiere airing of MOTORCYCLE MANIA II, which ranked as one of the network's highest rated primetime program within its demographic in January 2002. Beers also delivered the first, second and fourth highest-rated shows for the Discovery Channel during the 2000-01 season.
Prior to establishing ORIGINAL PRODUCTIONS, Beers served as the Series Producer for the hit syndicated series WILD THINGS for Paramount Television. In that capacity, he supervised a staff of over 80 people while creating some of the most ground-breaking storytelling techniques ever incorporated into the world of adventure, natural history and wildlife.
Before joining Paramount, Beers operated in several high-ranking capacities during an 11-year tenure at Turner Broadcasting System, including serving as Vice President/Supervising Producer for Turner Original Productions. His responsibilities in that position encompassed supervising original programming for TBS Superstation, including the award-winning series NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC EXPLORER, NETWORK EARTH and the JACQUES COUSTEAU SPECIALS. He also created and executive produced the new TBS and syndicated series WILD! LIFE ADVENTURES. Beers also served as the producer for the four highest-rated specials in the history of Turner Original Productions: HARLEY DAVIDSON THE AMERICAN MOTORCYCLE, the Emmy award-winning CATS AND DOGS, and THE INCREDIBLE LIFE AND TIMES OF ROBERT L. RIPLEY, BELIEVE IT OR NOT. Furthermore, Beers was one of the creators and supervising producer of the animated series CAPTAIN PLANET AND THE PLANETEERS, and prior to that served as Vice President of Development for TBS Productions.
Beers' productions have won a number of Emmy's, Ace's, New York Film Festival Awards, Cine Golden Eagles, Houston Worldfest Film Festival and National Education Awards. He is a member of NATAS and IDA, and also serves on the Board of Directors for the Telluride Mountain Film Festival.
