Louise Rosen
Louise Rosen is a media executive with over 20 years experience in the international television and film business, project development, production and distribution.
She has worked with a wide range of program genres and formats and set up major international co-productions. Her reputation as a talent-spotter has grown steadily, built upon her association with numerous award-winning projects. Louise was based in Europe for 8 years, has been praised as having "US tempo and a European soul" and enjoys speaking French.
She has taken an active role in many productions; overseeing research, editorial and budgeting as well as location- and post-production. Her experience also includes management, operations, marketing and business affairs. She has been honored to have among her projects Oscar, Emmy, Sundance, Prix Italia and International Emmy winners such as ANNE FRANK REMEMBERED, TROUBLESOME CREEK: A MIDWESTERN and NUREMBERG. While based in Europe, Louise had a close affiliation with Worldview Pictures and eight of their productions, including the Grimme Prize-winner THE EXECUTION PROTOCOL and the series WAR & CIVILIZATION, based on the work of historian and best selling author, John Keegan.
Louise is a credited co-producer on several projects, including both the documentary and IMAX films on Sir Ernest Shackleton's Antarctic expedition, titled THE ENDURANCE and SHACKLETON'S ANTARCTIC ADVENTURE respectively. THE ENDURANCE is an international co-production Louise established between White Mountain Films, WGBH, Channel 4/UK, Telepool/Germany, SVT/Sweden and Discovery International and was selected for the Telluride Sundance Film Festivals, among many others. THE ENDURANCE was released theatrically and named Best Documentary by the National Board of Review. The separate 40-minute IMAX film premiered at New York's Museum of Natural History and has been seen across North America and in cities worldwide including Tokyo, London, Munich, Berlin and Paris.
Current projects include: HOLY WATER-GATE: THE SEX ABUSE CRISIS IN THE CATHOLIC CHURCH, which she is co-producing with director Mary Conlon (pre-sold to SBS/Australia with several European pre-sales in negotiation); THE KILLER CURE on the biotechnology of phage therapy, an LRL co-production with Pangolin Pictures for Discovery Health Channel and a soon-to-be-named major European network. She is also acting as agent for CARDS & CON MEN: THE LIFE AND MAGIC OF RICKY JAY from Molly Bernstein and Alan Edelstein and THE HEYWOOD BOYS from West City Films. THE HEYWOOD BOYS is a co-production with WGBH and has now been pre-sold to the BBC and ARTE.
Louise has been a featured speaker at conferences and film festivals, including The Real Screen Summit, Toronto's Hot Docs Film Festival and the Puerto Rico International Film Festival as well as a Master Class Instructor at the Munich Discovery Campus 2002. She has served on the board of directors of organizations such as the International Documentary Association and Women in Film & Video/Boston. In the 1970's, Louise worked in other areas of the media including industrial and commercial film production, various aspects of the music business (with Grateful Dead Records and her own music management and booking agency) and in radio advertising sales with Westinghouse Broadcasting and others.
