Susanne Simpson
Ms. Simpson has served as Executive Producer for NOVA Large Format Films since 1990. Two-time Academy AwardŽ nominee, Ms. Simpson is the producer and executive producer of the critically acclaimed and box-office hit Shackleton's Antarctic Adventure. The film has been on Variety's top 50 films, except for one week, since its premiere. Recently, Shackleton's Antarctic Adventure won Best Film and Best Cinematography Awards by the Giant Screen Theater Association (GSTA) which represents more than 500 producers, distributors and industry vendors.
Ms. Simpson received an Academy Award nomination as producer/writer of Special Effects, a film that goes behind-the-scenes on such Hollywood films as Star Wars Special Edition and Independence Day. She is consulting Producer for Mysteries of Egypt, executive producer for Island of the Sharks, and senior producer for To The Limit and Stormchasers. Ms. Simpson has produced numerous documentaries for the NOVA television series, including Can the Vatican Save the Sistine Chapel? for which she won an Emmy and was nominated for Outstanding Achievement by the Writers Guild. In 1981, her creative talents were recognized with her first Academy Award nomination for Eight Minutes to Midnight: A Portrait of Dr. Helen Caldicott. She is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture, Arts and Sciences and the Writers Guild.
