Particularly interested in entertainment/wildlife/nature/travel and history in HD
How many hours or slots do you program per year?
1700 hours per year--of standard content
quite a bit from PBS
HD content is probably 30 hours per year
What percentage or number of hours are commissioned vs. acquired? (Ie. 60% commissions/ 40% acquisitions)
for HD content we commission about two hours per year the rest are acquired.
What are you looking for right now?
wildlife/nature and travel in HD
How do you prefer to be pitched?
brief pitch by telephone for completed existing program to program director. If interested in co-production producer should go to our website and fill out form and release form and send to production director
What is your biggest pitch turnoff?
constant calls and e-mails after initial approach
What is your market circuit?
Program director normally goes to PBS annual meeting and American Public Television Annual meeting for a lot of content. Have attended Real Screen and NATPE as well
