Abby Greensfelder
Owner, Discovery Channel US
Programmers Show & Tell: Signature Series & Event Docs

As senior vice president, programming and development, Abby Greensfelder oversees all scheduling, acquisitions and program development for the Discovery Channel, and manages the programming budget for the network. During her tenure: the network has launched signature series such as MythBusters, American Chopper and Monster House, as well as big specials like the highly rated Nefertiti Resurrected.

Previously, Greensfelder served as vice president of programming and before that, director of programming and strategy for the Discovery Channel, where she was responsible for linking Discovery's development, programming, production, advertising sales and marketing efforts. Greensfelder also played a key role in creating the Discovery Channel Quest initiative (in which Discovery funds and films scientific research and expeditions), as well as helping to craft the networks many successful movie marketing tie-ins and partnerships with institutions such as the Smithsonian and NASA.

Greensfelder, who joined Discovery in 1997, has played instrumental roles in the network's program development, programming, partnerships and new media ventures. Previously, Greensfelder spearheaded the network's efforts in the interactive TV arena working with industry leaders like Wink, Ultimate TV and Open TV. She was also vital in the development of brand definitional programs such as Cleopatra's Palace, Inside The Space Station, Hate &Violence: No Simple Answers, Raising the Mammoth and many others.

Prior to Discovery, Greensfelder worked in production for Transatlantic Films, a UK-based production and distribution company.

Greensfelder is a graduate of Yale University and holds an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
