As head of programming and acquisitions for Discovery HD Theater(TM), John Pence spearheads scheduling, program acquisitions and programming partnerships for the network. Pence is responsible for building and maintaining active relationships with program vendors and producers worldwide to maintain and expand a high quality HD broadcast library while advancing the growth and exposure of Discovery HD Theater at industry trade shows, film festivals and special events.

Prior to his current role with Discovery HD Theater, Pence served in Discovery's Television and Technologies Group, where he was responsible for the daily broadcast network operations process for Discovery Channel and TLC. In this role, Pence tracked and maintained the flow of all premier and repeat programming through the operations process including quality control, editing, duplication, library and uplink.

Previously, Pence held sales positions in Discovery's Affiliate Sales & Marketing and National Accounts divisions. Pence joined Discovery as international operations coordinator, Discovery Enterprises Worldwide. He began his career with ACE*COMM, an international telecommunications company in Gaithersburg, Md.

Pence holds a bachelor of arts degree in Communication from the University of Hartford.
