Dan Harrison was named Senior Vice President, Cross-Network Strategy & Emerging Networks, NBC Universal Cable Entertainment in December 2004. Harrison's focus includes the strategic planning of cross-platform programming for NBC Universal's entertainment cable networks, including USA, Sci Fi and Bravo. Additionally, he oversees Universal HD, the company's new high-definition cable network. In this capacity, Harrison reports primarily to Jeff Gaspin, President, NBC Universal Cable Entertainment & Cross Platform Strategy. In addition, Harrison is responsible for the planning and execution of Bravo's long-range direction and scheduling. In this capacity he reports to Lauren Zalaznick, President of Bravo & Trio Networks. Previously, Harrison served as Vice President, Strategic Program Planning for Bravo since June 2003.
Harrison returned in 2003 to the NBC-owned Bravo after serving as Senior Vice President, Programming & Strategic Planning at Fox Sports Group. While there, he handled the development, production, scheduling and program research for all of the non-event, non-news programming on Fox Sports. In addition, he oversaw production on the Emmy Award-nominated Beyond the Glory. He also helped launch Fuel, Fox' new extreme-sports network.
Harrison began his NBC career as a Director, Program Planning and Scheduling. He became Vice President, Program Planning and Scheduling in March 2000.
As a writer, Harrison's credits include the A&E Biography episodes, M*A*S*H TVography and Alan Alda: More Than Mr. Nice Guy. He authored the books Inside Mayberry: A Guide to the 'Andy Griffith Show' and was contributing editor of The Motion Picture Guide.
Harrison is a graduate of Cornell University and Harvard Law School.
