David Collins
Principal, Scout Productions
Behind the Lens with David Collins & Michael Williams, Principals, Scout Productions

David Collins and his partner Michael Williams founded the award-winning, full-service media and entertainment company SCOUT Productions in 1994 with a fierce commitment to empowering creativity with production expertise. That dedication is embodied in SCOUT's breakout reality programs Queer Eye for the Straight Guy (Bravo/NBC), for which the Collins earned a 2004 Emmy Award, and Knock First (ABC Family). Both were created and executive produced by David, and each series is infused with his unique "Make Better" mantra.

Queer Eye for the Straight Guy is a worldwide hit and ratings sensation, and earned David 2004 Producer of the Year honors from the Producers Guild of America. The incredible success of the series has led to a spin-off, Queer Eye for the Straight Girl, due on Bravo in January 2005, as well as international versions of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy around the world. His other executive producer television credits span a wide variety of genres and formats, including shows for MTV, VH1, IFC and Trio. David has successfully channeled his boundless energy into an ever-expanding television division and is now positioning SCOUT to impact the literary world, music industry and advertising landscape.

In 2004 American Express tapped David to be the spokesman for its "Open: The Small Business Network(tm)" campaign, featuring national print, radio and television advertisements based on his professional success and experiences as a longtime American Express Business Card member.

An accomplished film producer, David produced Brad Anderson's suspenseful thriller Session 9 (USA Films), Adam Bernstein's Six Ways to Sunday and the award-winning feature Home Before Dark.

Prior to establishing SCOUT, David worked in production on a wide variety of major films, beginning with Jodie Foster's directorial debut Little Man Tate. His production expertise was utilized to stage what was then the largest movie explosion of all time for MGM's Blown Away. His extensive feature film credits also include American Buffalo, Malice, Dumb & Dumber, The Good Son, Hoffa, HouseSitter and Just Cause.

An Ohio native, David graduated with a B.S. in Television and Film from Ohio University. He is a member of the Directors Guild of America.
